Champagne on a beer budget…

The beginningHello! So I guess this is the space where I introduce myself and explain to you why it is, after all this time reading other people’s blogs, I finally decided that the time had come to see if I had what it took to capture people’s interest – in fact even one persons interest would be more than I am expecting!  So here goes…I am Linsey.  I know there are many of you out there who, like me, for one reason or another seem to be always stuck in that ever frustrating “low-income bracket”, it is not that you aren’t working hard to become one of the corporate elite or an entrepreneurial genius, it is just that at this point in time it is still a work in progress.  At present I am in the middle of this “work in progress” and find myself with little disposable income to spend on the things that I love, in no particular order; fashion, fashion, fashion.  The reason for being void of any real disposable income is that I have just completed a degree in Marketing and thus been subjected to living on rations and window shopping for the past 4 years – a very miserable affair but of course completely necessary.

Instead of diving head first in to the working world, and said disposable income, I have now decided to spend the next 2 years of my life travelling the world with my best friend and working where and when I can.  Tough decision to make considering I have some good career options at home on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.  But nonetheless my flights are booked and I am setting off for the first leg of my trip, to Thailand and Malaysia, on the 14 July 2009.  This blog is intended to be bits and pieces of my travel, musings on once again being at the bottom of the food chain and my efforts to become more ingenuitive in terms of fashion whilst travelling the world.  I intend to visit high end designer stores and oggle at the pieces that I cannot realistically afford and then take inspiration from these pieces and my surroundings and somehow manage to keep my wardrobe up to champagne standards on a beer budget…whether or not I can do it is another story.  At times it may be slightly amusing, even laught-out-loud funny, but i shall endeavour to help those of you in similar situations to me with ideas and tricks on keeping up the fashionista facade without having to go without food for a month.

Right now I am “pee-my-pants” excited about the people, places, cultures and adventures that await us and I hope that I can share that excitement with you all and inspire some of you to “throw off the shackles” of every day life and travel the world – Champagne on a beer budget…it sounds good to me!

P.s. I’m new to this so bear with me…
